Než zvolíme lustry, bodová světla, stojací lampy a jiné typy osvětlení, první věc je vzhled, ovšem s ohledem na technickou stránku problému: instalace, směr světla, účinek výkonových lamp na životní prostředí, kombinace světla bytu s vnitřním stylem. Proto, aby se zabránilo “systematické chybě” ve světle, je třeba jejich koupi naplánovat s předstihem a to s efektem orientace nebo naopak, rozptyl světla a stínů na bázi odrazivosti k textilní dekoraci, tapetách a nábytku. Reflektory
Typicky, tento druh lampy bývá namontován do stropního podhledu, výklenků pro dekorativní oblouky vyrobené převážně ze sádrokartonových konstrukcí. Existuje mnoho modifikací reflektoru: svítidlo, hranol, rybí oko, hvězdné nebe, klasika atd.
